Heimann und Schwantes is an editorial and graphic design studio based in Berlin. Founded by Michael Heimann and Hendrik Schwantes in 2007, the firm’s focus is the conception and design of communication media that are unique in terms of their artistry and craftsmanship. The studio maintains collaborative relationships with individuals and institutions in the areas of fine arts, architecture, and design. Their projects have won several awards and appeared in numerous international publications.
Michael Heimann was born in Munich in 1970. He studied graphic design at the University of Applied Science Trier and the Basel School of Design. After working at Interbrand Zintzmeyer & Lux in Zurich and kognito Gestaltung in Berlin, Heimann went on to lead the design firm groenland.berlin.
Hendrik Schwantes was born in Stuttgart in 1974. He studied communication design and photography at the University of Applied Sciences Hamburg. After working at Lars Müller Publishers in Baden, Switzerland, Schwantes established his own company in Berlin and taught as a guest lecturer at the Berlin University of Arts.
Media creator Renate Huth and designer Haig Walta are members of the Heimann und Schwantes team. The studio offers an internship position.
